Hello! Welcome to the Don’t postpone JOY! Blog.

I’m glad to see you here, I’m currently sitting at my outside desk in the garden in what was a beautifully sunny day, however some rather grey clouds have just appeared overhead.

This blog is intended for you, those who may be wondering who I am, what my qualifications are, and ultimately how I spin a story, and how I might tell yours.

Up until recently I’ve been working in the corporate and charity worlds and loving the progression, the teamwork and the front facing roles I’ve worked. But a niggle took hold after I had my little one, which wanted my life to be more balanced, where I could work for myself, champion the work I do and get more out of life.

I wanted more JOY! That’s what being a celebrant is to me, it’s joyful in all of its messy ways. Some may be reading this and thinking, funerals? Joyful? Well yes, they can be, when family and friends come together to share their loved ones most joyful memories, moments and anecdotes.

I remember sitting at my desk at the cemetery (more about that another time) when a celebrant came to the door in full 1940’s style. She was taking a service for a chap in his 90’s and could I show her the Chapel for the day’s service. She was warm, and had wonderful attention to detail. While the funeral was taking place, I took my seat back at my desk.

The wonderful thing about working in an office attached to a Victorian Chapel with domed roof is the STUNNING acoustics. I heard Dame Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again drift into the office, and that’s when I started to really think about becoming a celebrant. (NOT because I can in anyway sing, but because she was just fabulous!)

Here I am, as the blue skies return overhead, writing to you about my dream job, which I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy for. I started my business in December, and have been feeling all the joy of the change since.

So this is me, chatty, warm, joyful and so ready to meet you!

All the love,

Charli X
